Circuit City and ODJCC combine to provide better training

Circuit City, one of the nation’s leading providers of consumer electronics with 600 stores nationwide, entered into a partnership with the Old Dominion Job Corps Center (ODJCC) in Monroe, Va. Circuit City provided ODJCC with the company’s Firedog training curriculum that leads to certification for the graduates as in-home theater installers. This certification is in addition to the training the students receive as pre-apprentice electricians.  In the short time since the partnership began, eight students have attained Firedog certification. One of the graduates was already hired to install home theaters in Circuit City’s Northern Virginia market.

“The level of knowledge that the students graduate with provides them with long-term career opportunities in a high-growth industry and provides Circuit City with a pipeline of qualified talent. It’s a win-win!”

Laurie Lamber-Gaffney, Vice President, Human Resource Operations, Circuit City
